About the role
This role is part of the Independent Compliance Testing (ICT) team within American Express's second-line Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) function, which conducts risk-based compliance testing across products and portfolio segments to assess adherence to laws, regulations, and internal policies. The position fulfills ICT data requests for AML, sanctions, and other compliance reviews, sourcing, validating, and delivering data to regulatory, audit, risk, and compliance stakeholders. It partners with compliance, risk, technology, and business teams to ensure data lineage, governance, and traceability.
What you will do
- Working with business partners to identify and evaluate means of new system-assisted testing for ICT reviews
- Maintain necessary records and files to assure efficient and consistent reporting of compliance efforts.
- Collaborating with risk, compliance, and business partners across multiple groups to ensure adherence to Bank policy and banking laws and regulations.

What the employer is looking for
- The qualified individual will have minimum 3-4 years of experience
- Demonstrated proficiency using SQL, a variety of databases, and comfort and ease in accurately manipulating large datasets
- Proficiency Python, Jupyter notebooks, Google Big Query, and AI Language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot.
- Strong analytical skills, with a track record of driving results and problem solving.
- Excellent organization, prioritization and collaboration skills are a must.
- The candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter able to operate on multiple fronts with careful attention to detail
- Undergraduate Degree in a quantitative field or equivalent work experience is required.
- Be self-motivated, dependable, adaptable and detail oriented with a proven ability to work independently or within a team environment as required
- Have a demonstrated ability to think conceptually, using strong analytical skills
- Be able to explore and deduce comprehension of new unfamiliar datasets, and generate regulatory insights and patterns from big data.
- Possess a strong understanding of bank systems and processes; banking products, strong computer knowledge; excellent MS 365 skills
- Experience with machine learning algorithms preferred
- Shift timings would be 9:00am - 6:00pm but based on the business requirements candidate can be asked to work in 1:00pm - 10:00pm shift as well. Therefore, candidate must be flexible with the timings.
