About the role

IBM Infrastructure & Technology designs and operates high-resiliency mainframes, hybrid cloud platforms, networking, automation, and site reliability systems for clients and industries worldwide. As a Back-End Developer for IBM Z, the role involves designing, developing, unit testing, and delivering offerings for IBM Z such as z/OS using agile practices and DevOps tooling. The engineer works in a collaborative environment to understand requirements, design, code, debug, and test solutions spanning mainframe storage, databases, and z/OS security.

What you will do

  • Design and Develop Solutions: Design, develop, and unit test offerings for IBM Z, utilizing programming languages such as HLASM/Assembler and PL/X to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work collaboratively to understand client requirements, design, code, debug, and test creative solutions to client problems and requirements, ensuring world-class quality and resiliency.
  • Ensure Solution Quality: Ensure solutions meet world-class quality and resiliency standards, supporting strategic imperatives including artificial intelligence and cloud.
  • Mainframe Storage and Database Management: Work with mainframe storage solutions and database technologies, including IMS, DB2, and z/OS security features such as RACF, SSL, SSO, and Multi-Factor Authentication.
  • Agile Practices and DevOps Tooling: Utilize agile practices and DevOps tooling to deliver solutions efficiently and effectively.

  • Mainframe Security Expertise: Experience with z/OS security features, including RACF, SSL, SSO, and Multi-Factor Authentication. Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements for mainframe systems.
