About the role
Google Search is reimagining what it means to search for information anywhere, solving complex engineering challenges and expanding infrastructure while keeping the experience universally accessible for billions of users. The Search Intelligence team works on AI/ML-driven search features, including ML infrastructure, ranking, classifiers, reinforcement learning, and speech/audio technologies. This role owns technical challenges in the Search Intelligence stack, drives technical design decisions, and collaborates with AI/ML researchers and Product Managers, with a focus on the Indian market.
What you will do
- Own varied technical challenges in the Search Intelligence stack.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers, AI/ML researchers, and Product Managers to translate the innovations into concrete technical designs and implementations.
- Drive technical design decisions within your area of ownership and contribute to technical best practices.
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Search Intelligence features, operating at Google's massive scale and addressing the unique needs of the Indian market.
- Be passionate about Search and solve problems with increased levels of ambiguity. Have AI fluency and be prepared to discuss your knowledge of AI tools in the hiring process. Collaborate closely with engineers, AI/ML researchers, and PMs to translate the innovations into concrete technical designs and implementations.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience with ML design and ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
- 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with building or leveraging agentic frameworks and Large Language Model (LLM)-powered automation to enhance investigative velocity.
- Experience with building classifiers, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), ranking, and research.
