About the role
Google Cloud's software engineers develop next-generation technologies spanning information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, AI, NLP, UI design and mobile, delivering enterprise-grade solutions used by customers in more than 200 countries. This role sits in Compliance and Platform Infrastructure for Google Workspace, focused on scalable storage systems and system performance. The engineer will deliver production-ready code, drive technical design, resolve performance and system issues at the intersection of infrastructure and machine learning, and partner with product and engineering stakeholders across the storage domain.
What you will do
- Deliver production-ready code for Compliance and Platform Infrastructure in Google Workspace.
- Design scalable and performant storage solutions. Drive the technical design for features, making data-driven decisions to optimize system efficiency and reliability.
- Identify and resolve performance issues and intricate system issues. Develop innovative, practical solutions to technical challenges that arise at the intersection of infrastructure and machine learning.
- Partner with product and engineering stakeholders across the storage domain to deliver high complexity features and products.
- Research into the existing usage, understanding API and service boundaries, identifying customer needs, and finding existing pain points.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience with building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies.
- 2 years of experience in a people mentorship supervision role.
Preferred qualifications
- 8 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, etc.).
- Experience writing high-quality Java/C++/Python code.
