About the role
Okta's Identity Governance (OIG) organization builds the enterprise identity infrastructure that lets organizations securely manage access across AI and human identities. The Identity Administration team owns one of the most visible enterprise identity workflows: how employees request, approve, and gain access to the resources they need. As a Staff Full Stack Engineer, you will lead development of user-facing features from UI components through REST APIs and data persistence layers, working with React, Java, and relational databases alongside UX, Product, QA, and SRE teams.
What you will do
- Lead the development of user-facing features for Identity Administration, from the UI components down to the API and data persistence layers.
- Partner closely with UX Designers and Product Managers to translate complex administrative workflows into simple, powerful user experiences.
- Build and maintain scalable, responsive, and accessible web applications using React and modern state management libraries.
- Design and implement performant RESTful APIs and backend services in Java to support new multi-org management capabilities.
- Ensure high code quality through comprehensive unit and integration testing across the entire stack (e.g., Jest/Cypress for frontend, JUnit for backend).
- Participate in technical design sessions, ensuring that frontend requirements are reflected in backend architecture and vice versa.
- Work with senior engineering team in major development projects, design and implementation
- Participate in on-call rotations and collaborate with SRE to ensure the reliability and uptime of applications
- Partner with our Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams for scoping the development and deployment work
