About the role

Okta Platform R&D builds the trusted, neutral identity infrastructure that secures every identity, from AI to human, with a focus on protecting the future of work. The team drives cross-functional platform initiatives, developing the frameworks, shared libraries, and tools that let feature teams ship world-ready software. This Staff Software Engineer role (with a UI focus) owns the architectural vision for a major UI platform subsystem such as internationalization and localization infrastructure, while remaining a hands-on contributor to the platform's most foundational components.

What you will do

  • Define, own, and drive the architectural vision and technical roadmap for a major UI platform subsystem (e.g., internationalization and localization infrastructure), securing buy-in across dependent feature teams.
  • Serve as the definitive design reviewer for high-impact proposals and cross-team interface specifications, ensuring long-term technical integrity and maintainability.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and resolve technical ambiguity for initiatives spanning multiple product teams, translating high-level product strategy into actionable technical architecture.
  • Shape a culture of continuous learning by proactively sharing knowledge, mentoring Senior Engineers, and establishing best practices.
  • Empower developers by building reusable components and robust design patterns that help other teams deliver world-ready UIs and APIs efficiently.
  • Be a hands-on contributor, driving the implementation and ensuring the technical quality of the platform's most complex and foundational components.
