About the role
Google Cloud delivers enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google technology to help organizations digitally transform, serving customers in more than 200 countries and territories. Google software engineers develop next-generation technologies at massive scale across areas including distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile. This Staff Software Engineer role will build features for customers, engage with Google Cloud Platform infrastructure teams, set technical strategy, maintain high-availability engineering standards, and mentor junior engineers.
What you will do
- Leverage cloud technologies for which you can build latest features for customers. Engage with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure teams. Have thorough understanding of Cloud FileSystems, Networking, (Google) Cloud Platform, enterprise ecosystems, etc.
- Make ambiguous problems tractable and help set the technical strategy for their responsible areas. Reduce chaos through automation, maintain rigorous defensive engineering standards for high availability.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) when working with external partners, important clients, or internal stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers through constructive design reviews, technical guidance, and active sponsorship. Foster a generative engineering environment of psychological safety, where differing architectural ideas are debated constructively.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Skills used in this role
Preferred qualifications
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
