About the role
Infineon develops semiconductor solutions for power systems and IoT, and this team focuses on next-generation WLAN solutions. The role is in WLAN MAC digital design for wireless communication products, covering RTL development, PPA optimization, and advanced Wi-Fi standards. The Staff Engineer Design will design and validate WLAN MAC subsystems, integrate industry-standard interfaces, and work with architecture, verification, and software teams.
What you will do
- Design and implement WLAN MAC digital systems and subsystems.
- Develop and maintain RTL code using Verilog/VHDL for WLAN MAC protocols and features.
- Optimize designs for Performance, Power, and Area (PPA) requirements.
- Develop unit-level testbenches and perform simulation, debugging, and validation.
- Integrate and validate designs with industry-standard interfaces such as AMBA (AXI/AHB/APB) and PCIe.
- Perform Clock Domain Crossing (CDC) and Reset Domain Crossing (RDC) analysis.
- Execute synthesis activities and ensure timing, area, and power closure.
- Collaborate with architecture, verification, and software teams throughout the development cycle.
- Prepare design specifications, technical documentation, and technical presentations.
- Conduct design reviews and quality checks to ensure compliance with product specifications and industry standards.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in RTL design and digital hardware development.
- Strong expertise in WLAN MAC design and wireless communication systems.
- Hands-on experience with Verilog/VHDL, FPGA/ASIC design flows, and synthesis methodologies.
- Good understanding of digital design fundamentals and high-speed bus protocols such as AMBA and PCIe.
- Experience using EDA tools from Synopsys, Cadence, or Siemens EDA (Mentor Graphics).
- Knowledge of CDC/RDC analysis, timing closure, and low-power design methodologies.
- Familiarity with IEEE 802.11n/ac/ax/be WLAN standards.
- Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or Perl is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Benefits and support
