About the role
The role is for an experienced engineer building enterprise-grade systems and large-scale server-side technologies for collaboration platforms supporting rich conversational experiences. The engineer will build highly interactive scalable applications, create tools and frameworks for other developers, and contribute to platform and product features. The position involves collaborating with product owners, enforcing software engineering best practices, and mentoring colleagues.
What you will do
- Build highly interactive applications that can scale with application complexity
- Create tools, libraries, and frameworks for other developers to build upon
- Apply new technology and innovation to improve platform functionality
- Write high-quality, clean, scalable, and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes (code reviews, unit testing, etc.)
- Collaborate with product owners to understand requirements and own the code from design to delivery
- Design software that is simple to use, allowing customers to extend and customize functionality to meet their specific needs
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new products and features while enhancing the existing product suite
- Mentor colleagues and promote knowledge-sharing
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with 5+ years of software industry experience for bachelor's
- Significant experience designing and implementing highly interactive and high-volume applications
- Expertise in backend technologies:
- Java, JUnit, REST, JSON
- Relational databases, SQL, and frameworks like Spring and Hibernate
- Frontend technologies, with solid JavaScript experience
- Competence in design, usability, and scalability
- Python experience is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication
Preferred qualifications
- Hands-on DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or similar)
