About the role
Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics with products spanning databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging and real-time analytics, and business intelligence, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the data integration team builds Azure Data Factory and Power Query, enabling customers to bring in, clean, shape, and join data. The Fabric Data Integration team is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and operate a next generation service that transfers large volumes of data between source and target systems with minimal latency, with a focus on data-centric orchestration and ease of data movement and replication.
What you will do
- Build cloud scale products with focus on efficiency, reliability and security.
- Build and maintain end-to-end Build, Test and Deployment pipelines.
- Deploy and manage massive Hadoop, Spark and other clusters.
- Contribute to the architecture & design of the products.
- Triaging issues and implementing solutions to restore service with minimal disruption to the customer and business. Perform root cause analysis, trend analysis and post-mortems.
- Owning the components and driving them end to end, all the way from gathering requirements, development, testing, deployment to ensuring high quality and availability post deployment.

What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, Java, React, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in data integration or migrations or ELT or ETL tooling is mandatory
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in building cloud services with multi-tier architecture.
- Solid software design and architecture skills for features and components spanning both horizontally and vertically.
- Experience working in Data domain, dealing with high volumes of data, API traffic, with mindset of security, scalability and performance.
