About the role
Google Cloud Business Platform (GCBP) supports Google Cloud's enterprise business, and Google Cloud delivers enterprise-grade solutions and tools used by customers in more than 200 countries and territories. This Software Engineering Manager role leads the incentives workstream within GCBP, adopting an AI-first approach and collaborating with UX, Product Managers, and operations teams. The manager sets team priorities, develops technical roadmaps and system designs, and manages the end-to-end lifecycle of cross-functional projects across areas such as AI, natural language processing, and large-scale system design.
What you will do
- Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
- Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
- Develop the technical goal and roadmap within the scope of the team. Evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
- Design, guide and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and work closely with the team to solve ambiguous problems.
- Manage and deliver end to end lifecycle of projects spanning across planning, design, execution and launch.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience with full stack development, across the back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications
- 7 years of experience building and developing scaled infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage (e.g., spanner, BigQuery).
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
- Experience of building products using Generative AI (GenAI)/Large Language Models (LLMs).
