About the role
The Tracking team builds and operates a foundational data platform that powers LinkedIn's products and data ecosystem, enabling collection and delivery of product interaction data across LinkedIn's web, iOS, and Android experiences for product analytics, experimentation, business insights, and machine learning and AI systems. As an iOS engineer on the team, you will build and evolve native mobile infrastructure, SDKs, and frameworks that capture high-quality product data at massive scale. The role involves solving problems around performance, reliability, networking, concurrency, data persistence, and battery efficiency while collaborating with iOS, Android, backend, infrastructure, data, and product teams.
What you will do
- Design and implement high-quality iOS frameworks and SDK capabilities used across LinkedIn's native applications.
- Build reliable and performant mechanisms for collecting, processing, and delivering product interaction data from iOS devices.
- Develop solutions that operate efficiently at LinkedIn scale while minimizing impact on application performance, memory, network usage, and battery life.
- Work with Apple's native frameworks and technologies to build robust solutions for concurrency, networking, data persistence, and background processing.
- Design and implement resilient client-side systems that can handle network variability, application lifecycle changes, and other real-world mobile conditions.
- Collaborate with backend and infrastructure teams to evolve the end-to-end tracking architecture and client/server communication protocols.
- Make architectural decisions by applying appropriate synchronous and asynchronous design patterns and balancing performance, reliability, maintainability, and developer experience.
- Build and maintain robust CI pipelines and automated testing infrastructure for LinkedIn's iOS SDKs and applications.
- Debug and optimize complex issues involving performance, networking, memory, concurrency, and data correctness.
- Produce high-quality software that is unit tested, peer-reviewed, and continuously integrated.
- Provide technical leadership by driving best engineering practices and contributing to large-scale, cross-functional, and mission-critical initiatives.
- Identify and champion opportunities to improve developer productivity, SDK usability, and engineering efficiency across LinkedIn.
