About the role
Wayfair runs a large custom e-commerce large parcel network, and the Supplier Castlegate Forwarding Contracts team in Bengaluru works with internal operations specialists to systemize supplier contract terms and ensure accurate terms are applied as orders are ingated. The team is adding supplier-focused experiences and MQC management capabilities. This role is a senior backend engineering position focused on technical leadership, high-throughput low-latency pipelines, production readiness, and integrating machine learning and analytics into the core platform.

- Partner with your business stakeholders to provide them with transparency, data, and resources to make informed decisions
- Be a technical leader within and across the teams you work with. Drive high impact architectural decisions and hands-on development, including inception, design, execution, and delivery following good design and coding practices.
- Obsessively focus on production readiness for the team including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation and proactive troubleshooting.
- Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet team and project goals.
- Create proposals and action plans to garner support across the organization.
- Influence and contribute to the team’s strategy and roadmap.

Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 7+ years of experience in backend software engineering architecting and implementing robust, distributed web applications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Track-record of technical leadership for teams following software development best practices (e.g. SOLID, TDD, GRASP, YAGNI, etc).
- Track-record of being a hands-on developer efficiently building technically sound systems.
- Experience building web services with Java,REST,Microservices.
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI/CD) practices and tools (Buildkite, Jenkins, etc.).
- Build and optimize high-throughput, low-latency pipelines capable of executing real-time competitive pricing algorithms, markdown logic, and supplier cost changes.
- Own system boundaries, design clean API contracts, and ensure the pricing platform is highly available and resilient under peak traffic like Way Day or Black Friday.
- Experience architecting solutions leveraging distributed infrastructure (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc).
- Experience leveraging monitoring and logging technologies (e.g. DataDog, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, etc).
- Act as the technical bridge between backend engineers and Data Science/Analytics teams to integrate Machine Learning and statistical operations smoothly into the core pipeline.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, lead rigorous code reviews, establish engineering best practices, and document durable architectural decisions.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience in ML models integrations with the systems
- Good knowledge on the ML science and Data pipelines
