About the role

American Express is hiring a Full Stack Engineer (SE II) with strong front-end engineering expertise to contribute to its Corporate Onboarding initiative. The role is centered on React-based, customer-facing onboarding and application journeys, paired with Java backend services and enterprise API integrations. The engineer will independently take features from design through implementation, integration, testing, and production readiness, working alongside Product, Architecture, UX, and QA teams.

What you will do

  • Design and develop responsive, scalable, and reusable UI components using React.
  • Build complex, multi-step application and onboarding journeys with a strong focus on user experience.
  • Implement role-based and dynamic UI behavior.
  • Integrate UI components with REST APIs and backend services.
  • Develop and enhance backend services using Java.
  • Implement API integrations with upstream and downstream enterprise systems.
  • Handle application state, validations, error scenarios, and data persistence effectively.
  • Write clean, maintainable, testable code with appropriate unit and integration test coverage.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and translate business requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Troubleshoot issues across UI, API, and integration layers.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, UX, QA, and dependent engineering teams.
  • Own assigned features through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
