About the role
The Akamai Cloud Technology Engineering team owns, develops and manages the solutions used by Akamai engineers globally, helping to run one of the largest distributed systems in the world. The team builds innovative, scalable, highly reliable and secure systems in close partnership with internal teams and stakeholders across Akamai's Cloud and Edge, security, content delivery and AI platform. As a Software Engineer II, you will design, build and deploy scalable, reliable, user-friendly solutions, collaborate with architects to refine requirements, implement and unit test features, and integrate emerging technologies such as LLM-powered applications and AI agents.
What you will do
- Creating new features, or enhance existing functionality, from design through testing and deployment.
- Interacting with development, product management, architecture, QA, and support teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Working in an agile sprint environment to deliver quality software on a regular and consistent basis.
- Involving in enhancement and bug fixes of existing applications and understanding and resolving complex technical problems.
- Measuring, maintaining and optimizing distributed system performance and working in diverse nature of programming languages as needed.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Have 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Have proficient experience in developing applications using Java, Spring, JavaScript & databases.
- Have experience in working on front end technologies like Angular/bootstrap/ReactJS.
- Have exposure to building LLM-powered applications and AI agents, including MCP servers that integrate models with external tools, data sources, and APIs.
- Have knowledge of one or more web programming languages such as Python, Perl or Php with exposure to AI coding tools.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning, understanding, and analyzing emerging technologies independently while utilizing build tools and Linux Shell commands effectively.
