About the role
NetApp is hiring Software Engineers into its Research and Development function to work on ONTAP, the company's flagship storage operating system and its data management capabilities used in mission critical applications worldwide. The team develops distributed software that drives NetApp cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premises solutions. This role covers development, testing and debugging of new features and enhancements to existing products, working closely with QA, System Test Engineering and other engineering groups.
What you will do
- Contribute as a key member of the engineering team in developing new features, sustaining existing functionality, and addressing engineering escalations.
- Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, debugging, testing, and customer support.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as QA, System Test Engineering, and other engineering groups to understand customer requirements, deliver high-quality solutions, and incorporate valuable feedback into product development.
- Work effectively with fellow engineers to troubleshoot, analyse, and resolve complex technical challenges.

- Hands-on programming experience in C, C++, and Python.
- Deep understanding of Unix/Linux systems programming and multithreaded application development.
- Solid knowledge of operating system internals and related concepts.
- Experience in the Storage domain and Distributed Systems is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to software engineering best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality solutions within aggressive timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse technical and business stakeholders.
- Understanding of customer deployment environments and experience collaborating with teams beyond engineering.
- Self-driven, motivated, and adaptable individual with strong ownership, independence, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 4-8 years of experience, or a Master’s Degree; or equivalent experience is required.
