About the role
ServiceNow is hiring a Software Engineer in Bangalore to build and ship AI-powered features and scalable product experiences. The role involves end-to-end development across Java/JavaScript, API design, componentized UI, test automation, and customer defect resolution. The team focuses on extensible, accessible, and performant experiences across web, workspace, and mobile.
What you will do
- Build and ship AI-powered features that are simple to use and deliver real value to customers.
- Write clean, scalable, reusable code and uphold engineering best practices: code reviews, unit testing, and automated test coverage that keeps releases stable and production-ready.
- Work with product owners to understand detailed requirements, and own your work end to end from design and implementation through test automation and delivery.
- Design software and APIs that customers can easily extend and customize to meet their specific needs.
- Build accessible, performant, componentized user interfaces that work consistently across web, workspace and mobile experiences.
- Investigate and resolve customer-reported defects and escalations, finding root causes across client, server and platform layers.
- Help design and implement new products and features while enhancing the existing product suite.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 2+ years of experience with Java or a similar OO language, and strong JavaScript skills.
- A passion for the Web as a platform, reusability and componentization, with experience in a modern UI framework such as Angular, React or Vue.
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance and scale considerations.
- Experience building or consuming REST APIs. Exposure to generative AI or LLM-based features (prompting, grounding, evaluating output quality) is a plus.
- Experience with test automation and a strong quality mindset, plus a working understanding of web accessibility.
- Strong analytical, debugging and design skills.
- Working knowledge of everyday tools: IDE, debugger, build tools, source control, ServiceNow instances, profilers, and system administration and Unix tools.
