About the role
Akamai's Cloud Technology Group provides the infrastructure and services that enable developers to build next-generation cloud native applications, hosting hundreds of thousands of virtual machines and petabytes of data for customers globally. As an SDET II in the group, the role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing tools and frameworks to ensure software quality and reliability for the compute cloud offering. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, and resolve defects, contributes to testing processes and methodologies, and applies automation tooling such as Pytest, Playwright, SaltStack, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins.
What you will do
- Building frameworks to automate deployment, configuration, and testing for many components of our compute cloud offering.
- Advising in utilizing and managing automation frameworks and tools, including Pytest, Playwright, SaltStack, Github Actions, and Jenkins.
- Showcasing high-level proficiency in Python test case development and the creation of automated scripts.
- Having experience in Linux system administration (specifically, server administration, networking, system internals, and package management).
- Mastering of testing best practices, from the analysis of design documentation to the creation of thorough, repeatable test plans.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Have 2+ years of experience in software development and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
- Have experience in both Manual and Automation Testing using Python, Java, and TestNG.
- Have experience in working with skilled teams of SDET engineers and communicating well with development teams throughout the testing process.
- Have an interest in cloud security and knowledge of secure development best practices as defined by organizations such as OWASP.
- Have a good understanding of systems programming and networking concepts. And exposure to network fundamentals (HTTP, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)
- Have an interest in and experience with AI-driven agentic quality engineering and the practical application of AI in a software testing lifecycle.
- Have familiarity/exposure with cloud technologies/tools like Kubernetes, docker, terraform and ansible.
