About the role
The IBM Chief Information Officer (CIO) organization drives IBM's enterprise technology strategy and digital transformation, and the CIO Technology Platform Transformation (TPT) team builds AI-first platforms and intelligent engineering solutions that modernize enterprise IT. The role contributes to projects involving Generative AI, Large Language Models, AI Agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Machine Learning, backend and web development, databases, cloud-native technologies, and software engineering. The developer will build enterprise AI and software applications while working with modern programming languages, APIs, databases, and DevOps practices.
What you will do
- Hands-on experience building enterprise AI and software applications.
- Exposure to Generative AI, Agentic AI, intelligent automation, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience working with cloud-native technologies, APIs, databases, and DevOps practices.
- Mentorship from IBM AI and Software Engineering experts.
- Experience contributing to production-grade AI and software solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand project requirements and build AI-enabled applications and services.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-organized, efficient, and well-tested code using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Develop and integrate Generative AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Build AI Agents and Agentic AI workflows using modern AI frameworks.
- Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
- Develop REST APIs, backend services, web applications, and AI integrations.
- Work with databases, SQL, and NoSQL technologies as required by projects.
- Conduct unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and participate in code reviews to ensure software quality and adherence to coding standards.
- Participate in CI/CD activities and work with version control systems such as Git.
- Build automation solutions to improve engineering productivity and streamline existing processes.
- Work with cloud-native technologies, containers, and DevOps practices.
- Communicate progress, issues, and suggestions to the tech team and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies across AI and software development.
- Adhere to project timelines, deadlines, and applicable project requirements.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions and collaborate effectively in an Agile environment.
- Continuously learn and apply emerging AI and software engineering technologies.
- Pursuing B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech./MCA in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, IT, or related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
- Knowledge of Data Structures, Algorithms, and Object-Oriented Programming.
- Basic understanding of Machine Learning and Generative AI.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and backend development.
- Knowledge of web development frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Knowledge of databases, SQL syntax, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with Git, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Exposure to LLMs and Prompt Engineering.
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of RAG and Vector Databases such as FAISS, Pinecone, ChromaDB, or Milvus.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
- Exposure to React, Node.js, Spring Boot, or FastAPI.
