About the role
American Express' technology unit builds the digital systems, services, products and platforms used by customers and colleagues worldwide, supporting the company's cards, merchants and payments experience. The team works on web application design and development with a focus on performance, availability and reliability, and is exploring AI to improve SRE automation, observability and incident management. This role is a Go Engineer / SRE position responsible for software builds, deployment automation, monitoring across test and production environments, and remediating complex platform availability issues.
What you will do
- Strong in software development and System Design
- Function as member of an agile team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation)
- Demonstrate increased self-reliance to achieve team goals
- Participate in code reviews and automated testing
- Debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation
- Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments
- Automate deployments in test or production environments
- Automatically scale applications based on demand projections
- Leverage AI and automation to improve SRE workflows, troubleshooting, and engineering productivity.
- Serving as a core member of an agile team that drives user story analysis and develops responsive web applications
