About the role
Okta builds trusted, neutral identity infrastructure that secures AI and human identities for organizations adopting new technology. The Information Development team produces developer-centered technical content for developer.okta.com, covering identity and access management products and platform integrations. This role designs, develops, edits, and delivers developer documentation, working with engineers, product managers, and developer success professionals to help developers and integration partners adopt and deploy Okta solutions.
What you will do
- Design, develop, edit, and deliver accurate and effective developer documentation for Okta products.
- Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, QA, Support, and members of the Information Development team to ensure quality and accuracy of content.
- Follow our documentation guidelines to produce high quality documentation.
- Prioritize projects when working with multiple engineering teams.
- Collaborate with developers to review API documentation.
- Analyze customer feedback before and after delivering documentation to enhance content depth, quality, and relevance.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Minimum 4 years relevant experience writing documentation for Cloud or Enterprise products.
- Bachelor’s degree or certificate in Technical Writing is preferred.
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience writing SDK, CLI, or developer tools documentation.
- Experience writing developer documentation and release notes.
- Experience with Markdown, Visual Studio Code, Acrolinx, and source code control tools such as Git and GitHub.
- Familiarity working with Jira and Confluence.
- Good collaboration skills with the writers and cross-functional teams.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Technical Communications, or a related technical field.
Preferred qualifications
- Strong ability to understand the application of security products in the real world and produce use case-based content.
- Knowledge of Okta or similar identity and access management solutions.
- Experience with DITA, OpenAPI, and any API management and publishing platform.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
