About the role
The MongoDB Documentation team is a group of writers and engineers who develop and maintain documentation for the MongoDB product family, aiming to help both human readers and AI successfully use MongoDB products. The team is part of the MongoDB Core Product organization and documents the full data platform, including the database, query language, Atlas, Vector Search, VoyageAI models, Full-Text Search, Stream Processing, client libraries, administrative tools, and connectors. This role creates clear reference docs and tutorials on high-complexity features, using an AI-forward approach to support AI agents, answer engines, and a large global community of MongoDB users.
What you will do
- Advocate for users in everything you write
- Work with technical and non-technical teams to meet the documentation needs of our users
- Research complex product features and validate with diligent testing
- Produce technically accurate and well-written documentation
- Contribute feedback to the team through copy review and planning discussions
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Candidates must have experience in a technical writing, technical communications, developer relations, or similar role in the software industry.
- Has experience writing technical documentation from scratch in English
- Possesses strong critical reading and writing skills
- Has hands-on experience using AI tools to accelerate documentation work
- Leverages sound editorial judgment to evaluate AI-generated content against source material for technical accuracy
- Has experience with cloud and database technologies
- Is able to read code for technical examples in at least one programming language (e.g., C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript)
- Has experience testing and validating documentable features and concepts
