About the role

Intuit is a global technology platform serving over 50 million consumers and small businesses across TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp. TurboTax Mobile is a flagship consumer-facing platform operating at massive scale in a highly seasonal, customer-critical environment. The role will define technical strategy and architecture for Android while contributing across mobile, web, backend, and AI-powered systems.

What you will do

  • Drive the architectural vision and technical strategy for complex, large-scale consumer applications, with deep technical expertise in Android and the ability to architect, develop, and deliver solutions across mobile, web, backend, and emerging technology platforms.
  • Lead the design and development of highly reliable, scalable, and performant Android applications while contributing hands-on to engineering challenges across iOS and other technology stacks as business and technical needs evolve.
  • Set engineering best practices, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional alignment with Product, Design, Data Science, and Engineering leaders.
  • Lead the strategic evaluation, prototyping, and integration of cutting-edge AI technologies, including generative AI, multimodal LLMs, and agentic AI, to transform consumer tax experiences and unlock new platform capabilities.
  • Establish organizational standards for software engineering, CI/CD pipeline efficiency, and modern architecture patterns, including modularization, server-driven UI, and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Champion technical excellence, performance optimization, accessibility, security, and reliability across mobile and adjacent engineering workstreams.
  • Architect and build mobile platform capabilities and agentic surfaces, enabling highly contextual, intelligent, and seamless customer experiences.
  • Drive end-to-end technical solutions across client applications, backend services, APIs, and AI systems, demonstrating the ability to operate effectively beyond the Android ecosystem.
  • Remain actively hands-on in architecture, coding, prototyping, debugging, and resolving complex technical challenges while influencing technical direction across teams.

Skills used in this role

What the employer is looking for

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of architecting and delivering high-impact, large-scale consumer applications.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Android development, including Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, application architecture, performance optimization, and modern Android development practices.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and demonstrated versatility across technology stacks, with the ability to design, develop, debug, and deliver solutions beyond Android, including iOS, web, backend services, and AI-powered systems.
  • Proven expertise in system design and architecture for high-volume, mission-critical applications operating under seasonal traffic peaks.
  • Ability to navigate unfamiliar technologies, quickly acquire proficiency in new frameworks and platforms, and independently solve complex engineering problems across the stack.
  • Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns, distributed systems, API design, modularization, and scalable application development.
  • Experience across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from architecture and implementation to testing, deployment, and production operations.
  • Experience developing and consuming web services using REST, GraphQL, or similar API technologies.
  • Familiarity with the development challenges associated with highly scalable, reliable, and available web applications.
  • Experience with automated testing, unit testing, Test Driven Development (TDD), CI/CD, and engineering productivity practices.
  • Experience building or integrating functional AI models, on-device LLMs, multimodal LLM architectures, or AI-powered application capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives, make sound architectural trade-offs, and deliver solutions across multiple engineering teams and technology domains.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts, influence architectural decisions, and collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
