About the role

Wayfair's Customer Technology organization builds the digital experiences and platforms that support customers from product discovery through checkout and order management. Its Payments teams make it easy and reliable for customers to pay using methods available in their geography while meeting local compliance and regulatory requirements. This role is a Senior Engineering Manager leading one or more software engineering teams, shaping multi-year technology strategy, managing engineers, and improving scalable, resilient customer-facing payment platforms.

What you will do

  • Help shape and drive a multi-year technology strategy for a complex platform that supports customers across multiple geographies.
  • Lead one or more software engineering teams, designing scalable solutions and owning the full software development lifecycle—from design and delivery to ongoing operation and maintenance.
  • Manage and develop engineers through regular coaching, guidance, and mentorship, supporting both their day-to-day work and long-term career growth.
  • Attract, onboard, develop, and retain diverse talent while building an inclusive, collaborative team culture.
  • Lead by example and help raise the bar for technical quality, operational excellence, and system design across your team and the broader engineering organization.
  • Identify and drive improvements to engineering skills, standards, practices, architecture, and documentation.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and decisions, helping teams weigh trade-offs and align on effective solutions.
  • Integrate AI into team management and engineering workflows, helping the team adopt AI tools and practices to improve how we plan, build, test, and operate software.
  • Continuously challenge established approaches and look for ways to improve our technology, practices, and outcomes.
