About the role
DoorDash is building a global on-demand logistics engine that powers its three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants and Dashers. The Hyderabad product engineering team works at the intersection of product and infrastructure, moving quickly from idea to experiment to production. Senior Backend Engineers own projects end-to-end, define backend architecture and tech stack for a product area, and mentor junior and mid-level peers while improving performance, reliability, scalability and security.

- Build fast-growing products for consumers and businesses and help take them to new markets globally
- Run rapid experiments with product partners and see your work's direct impact on customers and the business
- Be part of a new product engineering team in India and help shape how it builds and operates
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent
- 5+ years of industry experience working with backend tech stacks
- Proficiency in using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) in the full software development lifecycle, including designing, generating code, testing, monitoring and releasing software. AI is your default way of working, not an add-on.
- A strong sense of ownership and a bias for action: you take unclear problems from idea to production and own the outcome
- Product and business sense: you think about the end customer and make pragmatic trade-offs between speed and quality
- Ability to analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability and stability of system resources
- Experience with service-oriented architecture, writing REST or gRPC APIs, unit testing, and architectural design
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and other technologies (e.g. Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ)
- Clear communication with engineers, product managers and business partners across time zones
