About the role
Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that handle information at massive scale, spanning areas such as information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile. The Platforms and Devices team covers Google's computing software platforms across desktop, mobile and applications, as well as first-party devices and services combining Google AI, software and hardware. This role is a Tech Lead position on Android Studio, managing project priorities, deadlines and deliverables while designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining and enhancing software solutions and leading design and code reviews.
What you will do
- Write and test product or system development code.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Skills used in this role
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience in Software engineering.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Ideal candidate would have worked in executive leadership positions in previous roles.
- Should have previously held the Tech Lead/Lead Software Engineer role. Looking for engineering leads.
