About the role
Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) builds the core infrastructure and foundational technologies behind Microsoft's cloud, including server and data center infrastructure, security, operations, and manageability solutions across services such as Azure, Office 365, Teams, Bing, and Xbox Live. The Data Processing Unit (DPU) team combines software and hardware expertise to create a highly programmable, high-performance ASIC for handling large data streams. This role joins the DPU Runtime (OS) PCIe team to develop high-performance, scalable DPU software, focusing on next-generation PCIe device firmware, DPU driver code, and related host software supporting Azure's latest PCIe adapter cards.
What you will do
- Architect and design PCIe firmware for the DPU with an emphasis on device security
- Develop, maintain and debug PCIe issues, including use of protocol analyzers
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other developers
- Mentor the team members
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Preferred qualifications
- 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of Embedded and/or Operating System Kernel development experience
- 5+ years of experience designing and architecting complex software systems
- 3+ years of experience in technical leadership and/or mentoring
- Experience with PCIe protocol analyzers
- Experience with storage protocols such as NVMe
- Experience with PCIe switches and fabrics
