About the role
The Storage Team at DigitalOcean supports the operations and development of block volumes, backups, image management, object storage, and scalable file systems such as NFS, with the goal of creating a cohesive interface to hypervisor storage. The role focuses on building and operating highly available distributed file storage at cloud scale. This engineer will design and maintain scalable NFS solutions, program in Go, and contribute to open-source storage communities.
What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable NFS solutions and distributed file systems.
- Support the creation and operations of distributed systems at scale.
- Program in Go and other languages to develop high-performance storage solutions.
- Collaborate with a motivated team of peers to architect, develop, and optimize storage services.
- Contribute to and consume from free/open-source software communities, particularly in the file storage space.
- Solve complex, large-scale problems in a technically rewarding environment.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Deep knowledge of NFS, scalable file systems, and distributed storage architectures.
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating highly available file storage solutions.
- Familiarity with Object Storage and distributed File Systems and how to scale those solutions.
- Expertise in concurrency/parallelism models in modern programming languages like Go.
- A passion for open-source contributions and collaborating with the storage community.
