About the role
The YouTube Creator Support team designs and builds systems to support millions of creators through authoritative data, creator-facing products, intelligent workflow platforms, and Generative AI-powered assistants. The team is an autonomous, cross-functional group owning end-to-end product and engineering strategy for creator support. This role involves leading engineers, building scalable full-stack products and distributed systems, and innovating with Generative AI.
What you will do
- Lead a team of software engineers, driving technical direction, system architecture, and end-to-end execution for YouTube Creator Support products and platforms.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance scalable full-stack software systems and Generative AI-powered workflows serving millions of creators and global support operations.
- Partner closely with Product Management, User Experience Design, User Research, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate ambiguous product problems into clear technical roadmaps.
- Uphold high engineering standards through architecture and design reviews, code reviews, operational reliability, security, and data privacy best practices.
- Mentor and coach software engineers on the team, fostering technical growth, ownership, and engineering excellence.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- Experience with Generative AI and full-stack web development.
- Experience programming in C++, Python or Java.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience testing, maintaining, and launching software products.
- Experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience integrating Generative AI tools or large language model (LLM) interfaces into software workflows.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
