About the role
The Digital Power IC development team at Renesas builds software for the Infrastructure power management product line, supporting datacenter operators and infrastructure hardware developers deploying digital power control devices. The role sits within a SoC development team producing customer-facing software and involves interfacing with IC and firmware designers as well as marketing. The engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain software, primarily using Python and PySide (Qt).
What you will do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software that meets the needs of both customers and internal teams
- Gather and drive clarity on software requirements from diverse groups including customers, application engineers, hardware, and firmware engineers
- Contribute to both existing and new projects, covering a broad range of languages and scope. We use Python and Pyside(QT).
- Aid in code reviews for fellow team members, as required
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in software development required with Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent coding skills using Python and Good understanding and coding skills in UI development.
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Strong understanding of Software Architecture and Design principles, Behavior-Driven Development and unit testing approaches.
- Strong sense of software quality and treats testing, code review and documentation as part of the job.
- Self-motivated and proactive that be able to take ownership of a feature or module with limited supervision.
- Experience with RESTful API design and web technologies (HTML/JavaScript) is a plus
- Experience with basic electronics, microcontroller programming and bus communications strongly preferred.
- Experience in DevOps including JIRA, Confluence and GitLab preferred.
- Must have highly developed written and verbal cross-functional communication skills.
