About the role
Okta is the leading independent provider of enterprise identity, whose Okta Identity Cloud lets organizations securely connect the right people to the right technologies with over 6,500 pre-built integrations. This role sits on the Onboarding and Lifecycle Management (LCM) Platform team, which builds services for importing, syncing and provisioning identities and access policies such as users, groups, roles and entitlements, including connectors to on-prem and cloud apps. As a Senior Software Engineer, the person will design, build and maintain highly reliable, high-performance, scalable components on cloud infrastructure, conduct code reviews and performance tuning, and partner with QA, Product, Architecture and Site Reliability Engineering teams.
What you will do
- Work with senior engineering team in major development projects, design and implementation
- Conduct code reviews, analysis and performance tuning
- Work with QA team to outline and implement comprehensive test coverage for broad features
- Provide support and handle incoming bugs and customer reported issues
- Interface with cross-functional teams (Architects, QA, Product, Technical Support, Documentation, and UX teams) to develop connectors to on-prem and cloud apps
- Analyze/Refine Requirements with Product Management
- Partner with our Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams for scoping the development and deployment work
- Design and implement core, high-performance, scalable software components
- Quick prototyping to validate scale and performance.
- Troubleshooting and support for customer issues and debugging from logs (Splunk, Syslogs, etc.)
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 5+ years of software development experience building highly-reliable, mission- critical software
- Experience with object-oriented languages, e.g. Java
- Experience with data stores, e.g. relational databases
- Experience with one or more of the following Directory services: Active Directory, LDAP
- Experience with RESTful APIs
- Ability to debug
- Experience working with a system of scale
- B.S. Computer Science or related field
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with server-side technologies including caching, asynchronous processing, and multi-threading
- Experience in TDD
- Knowledge of Identity and Access Management protocols and technologies: OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM
- Microsoft Azure management APIs, ADFS, Office 365 or Microsoft’s Directory Synchronization Tool , Active Directory
