About the role
The role sits in the Defender Experts product unit within Microsoft's Security division, whose mission is to protect customers with AI-powered and full-stack capabilities combined with human-powered intelligence. The team builds managed services and product offerings that combine backend/cloud services, Big Data processing, and state-of-the-art Generative AI/LLMs with an easy-to-use UX, working with partners across the Microsoft Security division including the Security CoPilot team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, deploy and manage cloud services, deliver core features with junior engineers, engineering managers and program managers, and bring an engineering perspective to UX decisions and product experiences.
What you will do
- As Senior Software Engineer in our team, your areas of focus will be within an end-to-end team to design, build, deploy and manage cloud services that will help end users stay and feel safe from cyber threats. You take pride in focusing on fast paced ideate/create/learn cycle and measurable value growth through the experiences you build. You will work with Junior Engineers, Engineering Managers, Program Managers, and other Security Engineering disciplines to deliver core features for our security solution. You will bring an engineering perspective to UX decisions, prototype ideas, challenge complexity, and help turn ambiguous user problems into polished product experiences.
- Additionally, as a self-driven person, you will also be responsible for ensuring code quality, provide thought leadership in bringing innovation to our products and engineering practices.

- 7+ years of industry-experience building/delivering high-quality software.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cloud-based services, AI-powered features, and full-stack capabilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
- Expertise in React JS, C#, Java, C++ or equivalent programming languages
- Proficient in Secure Software Development Life Cycle
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related fields or related course work
