About the role
Microsoft Purview team is responsible for a broad suite of data governance, compliance, privacy, and risk management solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, and multi-cloud environments. This Senior Software Engineer role focuses on building extensible, maintainable, and scalable high-throughput multi-tenant services with strong design, testing, and error handling. The role also drives architecture proposals, cross-team coordination, experimentation with new technologies, and live site readiness, monitoring, and incident response while raising the security bar.
What you will do
- Leads by example within the team by producing extensible and maintainable code.
- Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents.
- For areas of dependency and overlap with other teams or team members, drives coordination and communicates across teams and resolves conflicts between teams.
- Leads discussions for the architecture of products/solutions and creates proposals for architecture.
- Innovation through experimentation: Initiate and guide experiments to evaluate new technologies and determine best-fit solutions.
- Develop scalable, high-quality solutions: Build software that is reliable, maintainable, and scalable to meet evolving business needs.
- Embed operational excellence: Incorporate live site readiness, monitoring, and incident response into the development lifecycle.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Masters/ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
- 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java or Python OR equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in backend software engineering and development.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD, deployment automation, and production operations.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: - This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
