About the role
The Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) organization keeps customers protected and productive by delivering timely Windows updates, and the Trusted Servicing & Experiences (TSX) team builds and enhances a large-scale distributed validation platform plus AI-based tools for test execution and failure analysis. The platform runs validations for all supported Windows OS servicing releases and applies AI to make engineering development and processes more agile. This Senior Software Engineer role involves designing and developing highly scalable, reliable cloud services, debugging and fixing validation pipeline issues, and shaping technical strategy while mentoring engineers.
What you will do
- Design and Develop features and tools to support massive code churn of Windows OS to keep our Windows Customers protected and productive.
- Reproducing, debugging, and fixing Validation and Experiences tool pipeline problems.
- Crafting high-quality, bug-free fixes with low compatibility risk.
- Improving performance, reliability of existing systems.
- Collaborating with OS engineers and other partner teams across Microsoft to enable to debug, develop, test and ship updates.
- Finding ways to improve products, tools, and processes for long-term benefit for Microsoft and customers.
- Mentoring engineers in the team.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. OR equivalent experience.
Preferred qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software development experience in C#, Azure and Cloud Technologies.
- Experience with relevant programming skills in C#, C++ or equivalent.
- Overall understanding of Azure and Cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to understand unfamiliar code bases, and debug server-side, multi-threaded, and highly scalable applications.
- Experience in working with Azure services like Service fabric, Kubernetes, Azure Batch, Keyvault.
- Experience with large scale services, architecture and technologies
- Proven design and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating with geographically distributed partner teams.
- Proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
