About the role
The AI and Infrastructure team builds custom silicon solutions and hyperscale computing platforms that power Google's direct-to-consumer products, Google Cloud customers, and Google's AI models, including TPUs and global networking. As a Physical Design Engineer, you will collaborate closely with functional design, Design For Testing (DFT), architecture, and packaging engineers, solving technical problems with innovative micro-architecture and practical logic circuit solutions while optimizing performance, power, and area. The role owns physical design partitions or top level, drives physical design methodologies, and manages timing and power consumption of the design.
What you will do
- Define and drive the implementation of physical design methodologies.
- Take ownership of one or more physical design partitions or top level.
- Manage timing and power consumption of the design.
- Contribute to design methodology, libraries, and code review.
- Define the physical design related rule sets for the functional design engineers.
Skills used in this role
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with an emphasis on computer architecture.
- Experience in coding with System Verilog and scripting with TCL.
- Experience with layout verification and design rules.
- Experience with very large scale integration (VLSI) design in SoC or multiple-cycles of SoC in ASIC design.
