About the role
Teradata's Autonomous Knowledge Platform activates enterprise intelligence by unifying data, knowledge and business context, with solutions that run on premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid approach. The engineering organization builds near-real-time data replication and high-availability capabilities that provide disaster recovery protection for large enterprise customers with demanding near-zero RPO and RTO requirements. This role leads geographically distributed teams that design, architect, and deliver scalable C/C++ enterprise software for replication, failover, and recovery, reporting to a Director of Engineering for data security and data protection.
What you will do
- Lead and scale an engineering team building near-real-time data replication and disaster recovery capabilities for large enterprise customers.
- Drive the architecture, execution, and quality of highly scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant replication features designed to support near-zero RPO and RTO objectives.
- Provide technical leadership for complex C/C++ product development involving distributed systems, persistence, data movement, consistency, failover, and recovery workflows.
- Partner with product management, architecture, database, QA, support, and cloud teams to define roadmap priorities and deliver customer-ready capabilities.
- Build, mentor, and grow engineers while establishing clear ownership, accountability, and high standards for design quality, code quality, testing, and operational readiness.
- Manage execution across geographically distributed teams, ensuring effective planning, communication, dependency management, and predictable delivery.
- Champion engineering practices that improve reliability, performance, diagnosability, automation, and long-term maintainability of mission-critical enterprise software.
- Engage with customer-facing teams to understand enterprise disaster recovery requirements, production issues, and opportunities to improve product resilience.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 10+ years of software engineering experience in a product development organization, with 2–3 years of experience managing geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Under Graduate or post graduate from the premier tier-1 universities/institutes (IIT, NIT, BITS, IIIT) in India.
- Strong technical background with proven experience building large enterprise software that is scalable, robust, reliable, and maintainable.
- Hands-on or deep technical experience with C/C++ product development in complex systems environments.
- Experience leading teams through architecture, design, implementation, testing, and release of mission-critical enterprise software capabilities.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts such as data replication, consistency, availability, failover, recovery, performance, and fault tolerance.
- Experience with database internals development is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead execution across teams, manage technical dependencies, and deliver high-quality software in a product-focused environment.
- Strong engineering judgment with the ability to balance customer availability requirements, technical complexity, delivery predictability, and long-term product quality.
- Ability to guide technical decisions in areas such as system reliability, performance tuning, test strategy, failure handling, observability, and operational readiness.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to influence engineering, product, and customer-facing stakeholders.
- Experience building healthy engineering cultures across locations, time zones, and functions.
- Passion for building resilient data infrastructure that protects mission-critical enterprise workloads.
