About the role
Qualcomm's Engineering Group, specifically Software Applications Engineering, provides technical expertise on software systems in support of business development, product demonstrations, and customer-specific requirements. The team collaborates with cross-functional teams and customers to debug and troubleshoot software systems and applications. This role involves driving system architecture, feature customizations, and technical documentation from proof of concept to commercial launch.
What you will do
- Leverages advanced Software Application knowledge to provide critical technical expertise of software systems through technical presentations in support of business development, customer training, product demonstrations, commercialization, customization, and maintenance of Qualcomm products.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and customer personnel to identify complex customer problems, debug complex issues in customer design software systems, and recommend innovative solutions.
- Drives critical system architecture and feature-specific customizations tailored for customer requirements from proof of concept to final product commercial launches.
- Assesses potential application of company products, prepares detailed product specifications, disseminates highly technical information on specific software areas, and/or troubleshoots highly complex issues regarding software tools and products.
- Writes highly complex product technical documentation, application notes, and FAQs; reviews technical documentation for junior engineers.
- Works independently with minimal supervision.
- Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.
- Decision-making is significant in nature and affects work beyond immediate work group.
- Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
- Has a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions.
- Tasks do not have defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
- 3+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
- 3+ years of experience with debugging techniques.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
- 2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Sr. Director and above).
- Experience in a customer-facing role.
