About the role

The Design COE EV team at Mahindra Group leads electrical and electronics design and HV/LV architecture for the electric powertrain of xEV programs. The role covers high-voltage battery system architecture, validation (SIL, HIL, component and vehicle level), HV safety and power-up/power-down definition, working with Tier-1 suppliers and vehicle E&E aggregates. The engineer will also drive DVP&R, SFMEA, prototype builds, and field failure root-cause analysis using Vector diagnostic tools.

What you will do

  • Lead the development of subsystems within the electrical architecture for high-voltage battery systems, including layout, electrical interfaces, and electric component selection
  • Develop a comprehensive DVP&R working with development engineers to formulate, conduct, and capture validation tests at various levels (SIL, HIL, Component, and Vehicle)
  • Define system-level electrical architecture including HV and LV interfaces, isolation strategies, and grounding schemes.
  • Strong understanding & Defining of HV safety, Crash safety, powertrain system architecture
  • Defining power up and power down procedure at vehicle level for electric powertrain components and discuss with CFT for implementation
  • Specify and select key electrical components for the battery architecture, including contactors, fusing element and measurement devices. Work with suppliers to ensure components meet required specifications and standards
  • Analyse the filed failures data and find a root cause for the issue to implement corrective actions.
  • Define and execute test plans for system validation, including functional, electrical, and thermal testing to ensure performance, durability, and safety under various conditions
  • Support the build of prototypes and early-stage vehicles, ensuring proper assembly and integration of high-voltage systems
  • Conduct system failure mode and effects analysis (SFMEA) and hazard analysis to identify potential failure points and implement design mitigations to ensure system safety and reliability

  • Hands-on experience in testing E/E systems, high-voltage (HV) systems, and related components
  • Collaborate with Tier-1 suppliers to understand and support electrical and electronics components present in the HV battery systems
  • Apply strong knowledge of EV systems including DC-DC converters, onboard chargers, HV batteries, and e-motors.
  • Work with vehicle E&E aggregates such as Body Control Modules, ABS/ESP, SRS/Airbag systems, and infotainment/HMI units.
  • Utilize VECTOR tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, and VSignalyzer for communication analysis and diagnostics.
  • Support system-level debugging, fault tracing, and log analysis during vehicle testing, validation and field failures.

Preferred qualifications

  • BE or ME
