About the role
The role sits within Royal Enfield's manufacturing operations and focuses on warehouse engineering, material flow architecture, Handling Unit design, and intralogistics optimization. It works at the intersection of industrial engineering, warehouse management, and digital automation, using 2D/3D CAD and digital simulation tools to design lean material flows, model warehouse layouts, and eliminate shop-floor bottlenecks. The incumbent will manage SAP EWM/MM transaction stability, implement ergonomic and automated material handling solutions, track warehouse SLAs, and drive productivity and cost-reduction initiatives in an automotive OEM or Tier-1 environment.
What you will do
- Warehouse Design & Material Flow: Define storage architecture, material handling systems, and lean internal logistics flows across warehouse and assembly shop floors.
- Handling Unit (HU) & CAD Design: Design and validate customized Handling Units (HUs), racks, and packaging using 2D/3D CAD software to maximize density and protect parts during transit.
- Digital Simulation & Ergonomic Automation: Simulate shop-floor dynamics to model layout modifications, resolve flow bottlenecks, and introduce ergonomic solutions and automated material handling systems (AGVs/AMRs).
- SAP, EWM & Operational Governance: Execute SAP MM/EWM transactions (Purchase Requisitions [PR], Returnable Gate Passes [RGP], inventory movements) and maintain 5S, safety, and visual management standards.
- Data Analytics & Continuous Improvement: Analyze throughput metrics, track warehouse SLAs and cycle times, identify operational bottlenecks, and drive lean cost-saving initiatives (VA/VE, Kaizen).
- Strategic Business Alignment: Align warehouse engineering projects with long-term Strategic Business Plan (SBP) targets and cross-functional operational goals.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant material handling, warehouse engineering, and intralogistics experience within an automotive OEM or major Tier-1 manufacturing facility.
- Core Competencies: Handling Unit (HU) CAD design, digital material flow simulation, SAP EWM/MM workflows, ergonomic automation, and warehouse throughput optimization.
Benefits and support
