About the role

The role sits within Royal Enfield's cost management function focused on high-precision aluminum cast components, specifically cylinder heads and cylinder blocks. It works cross-functionally with Sourcing, Current Engineering, NPD, and Quality Assurance on cost engineering for aluminum casting processes (HPDC, LPDC, GDC) and secondary machining operations. The Senior Engineer drives target costing, validates cost sheets, leads value engineering (VAVE) projects, conducts supplier negotiations, and manages commodity inflation and indexed clauses against vehicle business plan cost targets.

What you will do

  • Costing Build-Up & Scenario Modeling: Develop zero-based cost models, cost cards, and scenario analyses for aluminum cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, and cast parts to support cross-functional strategic decision-making.
  • Cost Sheet Validation & NPD Support: Validate technical cost sheets prepared by strategic sourcing for critical parts and provide cost-engineering support to NPD teams during vendor selection.
  • Supplier Negotiations & Norms: Participate in price negotiations, review and sign off on costing norms (cycle times, melt loss, machine rates, tooling cost) with suppliers, and negotiate contract terms.
  • Cost Reduction & VAVE: Identify, propose, and implement value engineering (VAVE) and alternative sourcing/material initiatives alongside Engineering and QA to achieve annual cost-reduction targets.
  • Inflation Management & Variance Analysis: Track raw material market trends (e.g., aluminum index updates), manage price adjustment clauses in contracts, analyze cost variances, and execute risk-mitigation plans.
