About the role
Barclays is evolving its digital landscape, and this team builds and maintains data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes that ensure data is accurate, accessible and secure. The role involves AWS, Hadoop/Spark, SQL, ETL and data warehousing to deliver analytical data solutions. The Senior Data Engineer will design and implement data architectures, develop processing algorithms, and collaborate with data scientists to deploy machine learning models.
What you will do
- Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
- Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
- Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
- Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- AWS hands on with S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, Glue, Athena, data pipelines, step function and knowledge of Analytical services.
- Experience of distributed computing architecture, Core Hadoop components (HDFS, Spark, Yarn, HIVE, Impala).
- Expertise in SQL, advanced SQL skills.
- Expertise in shell scripting and programming (Scala/Python).
- Knowledge of ETL technologies preferably Ab Initio.
- Experience of Technical Design for ETL/Hadoop/AWS components.
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing.
