About the role
Qualcomm's Operations Group / Product Management organization directs comprehensive product strategy from conception through end of life, acting as a central resource across design, process, manufacturing, quality, test, marketing, and distribution. The role focuses on Android and mobile software platform products, including AOSP, system software, and the broader Android ecosystem. This Senior Android SW Product Manager will own complex analyses, business cases, product roadmaps, and technical presentations while collaborating with engineering, sales, and ecosystem partners such as Google, OEMs, and carriers.
What you will do
- Working independently with little supervision.
- Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
- Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
- Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).
- Completing tasks that do not have defined steps; simultaneous use of multiple mental abilities is generally required to determine the best approach; mistakes may result in significant rework.
- Exercising substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.
- Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.
- Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
- Conducts complex analyses to assess marketability of products based on market, customer, technology, and other ecosystem demands.
- Creates a business case for the development of a new product or product features in an established product area (i.e., time to market, cost, market share).
- Markets new and complex products and technologies through technical marketing opportunities such as conferences, congresses, and direct customer contact and drives product launch efforts.
- Prepares and delivers highly complex technical presentations for new and existing products that explain and demonstrate products managed to customers.
- Contributes to the creation of a differentiated product roadmap in an established product area, promotes it within team, and ensures all team members understand the product roadmap.
- Directs the development of complex products and services with minimal supervision and communicates with individuals across functional teams.
- Completes product development and definition activities for a moderately complex, owned product, including determination of cost and impact, and interacts with sales team to generate forecasts.
- Maintains expertise by staying up to date on competitors, technological advances, and the product ecosystem and takes the lead on development and design innovation of products in an established area to articulate differentiation of products to customers and identify trends.
- Communicates regularly within own team and cross-functional team(s) to ensure team-level understanding of product plans for a product line.
- Ensures successful cross-functional collaboration by ensuring that agreed upon KPIs and specifications are met for product(s), upon delivery by engineering team.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders and program sponsors to develop product goals (e.g., performance, cost, timeline, customer schedules), discuss product feasibility, and facilitate cross-functional decision making for products they own.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- 4+ years of Product Management or related work experience.
- *Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business, or a related field.
- Experience in software product management, platform strategy, product planning, or a related technical discipline.
- Some experience with Android, AOSP, mobile software platforms, system software, or related ecosystem technologies.
- Experience defining and executing complex software products and technology roadmaps.
- Experience coordinating across multiple technology domains, product management teams, and engineering organizations.
- Understanding of mobile platform architecture, Android ecosystem requirements, software development lifecycle, and customer integration considerations.
- Experience working with Google, OEMs, carriers, developers, or other technology ecosystem partners.
- Ability to translate customer and market needs into product strategy, requirements, and execution priorities.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence decisions and drive results across organizational boundaries without direct authority.
- Experience balancing technical feasibility, customer value, business priorities, schedule, quality, and risk.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
