About the role
Netflix is a global entertainment service with paid memberships across more than 190 countries. The Originals publicity team leads earned media campaigns for Netflix original titles. This role owns publicity strategy and execution for South Indian titles including Tamil, Telugu, and beyond, working with filmmakers, talent, and cross-functional marketing and communications teams.
What you will do
- Build and execute publicity campaigns for South originals from production through launch and beyond — announcements, junkets, press moments, and post-launch coverage
- Work with partners to develop media strategy across broadcast, print, digital, and social — with a sharp instinct for what makes a story travel regionally and nationally
- Serve as the primary point of contact for filmmakers, talent, and production partners throughout the campaign lifecycle
- Pitch and secure media opportunities; cultivate journalists, critics, and influencers
- Integrate with marketing, social, content, awards, and festival teams to build campaigns that are greater than the sum of their parts
- Manage agencies, vendors, and budgets; give leadership clear visibility into process and priorities
- Stay ahead of shifts in the entertainment and cultural landscape — what audiences care about, what media is chasing, what's breaking next
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Campaign thinker, not just executor. You have a point of view on how a campaign should be built — and you can articulate what you're trying to do and why. You think about earned media not in press releases but through narratives.
- Deep regional expertise. You understand South Indian cinema, television, and the cultural currents that shape them. You know what makes a Tamil film travel differently from a Telugu one, and you know the media landscape intimately — who covers what, and why.
- Exceptional media relationships. You have strong existing relationships with key journalists, editors, and influencers across key markets in the South, and a track record of securing meaningful coverage — not just volume, but the right story in the right outlet at the right moment.
- You consume entertainment and culture voraciously — not just as a consumer but as an analyst. You notice what's breaking through and why.
- Integrated mindset. You think across channels — earned, social, talent, experiential — and can connect the dots between a press strategy, a talent moment, and a marketing beat.
- Strong communicator. Clear, direct, and effective with everyone from a journalist to a filmmaker to a Netflix executive. Fluent in English, Hindi, and can speak Tamil and/or Telugu. Candidates who have worked in the Tamil or Telugu entertainment industry are especially encouraged to apply.
- 9-10 years of entertainment publicity experience — studio, OTT, network, agency, or journalism
- Demonstrated experience running end-to-end campaigns for South Indian titles or talent
- Comfort managing agencies, budgets, and cross-functional partners
Benefits and support
- Compensation and benefits are detailed in the job posting
