About the role
Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics with products spanning databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging and real-time analytics, and business intelligence, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and a unified data stack, and the Fabric Platform Shell team creates a unified, extensible SaaS data development environment on the web for developers and consumers. This role leads and mentors a team of software engineers, collaborating with UX & UI designers, product and program managers to drive technical excellence, agile delivery, and successful project completion.
What you will do
- Leading and mentoring a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Collaborating closely with UX & UI designers, product managers, program managers, and other engineers throughout the product feature development lifecycle.
- Driving technical excellence and innovation by identifying gaps and implementing best practices.
- Ensuring the team follows agile methodologies and maintains a high level of productivity.
- Managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful project completion.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python (OR)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years people management experience.
