About the role
Micron Technology is an industry leader in innovative memory and storage solutions, delivering DRAM, NAND, and NOR products through its Micron and Crucial brands for data center, edge, client, and mobile applications. The Employee Relations function supports the company's India operations by governing employee and industrial relations, investigations, compliance, and workplace standards. This Principal, ER Country Lead role owns Micron India's ER and IR strategy, advising senior leaders, leading critical investigations, managing union and labor matters, and applying AI-enabled tools and analytics to ER processes and governance.
What you will do
- Lead and execute Micron India’s Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR) strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, People strategy, regional ER objectives, and Micron’s AI transformation initiatives.
- Serve as the primary authority for ER governance across India, driving consistent case management, risk mitigation, investigation quality, compliance, workplace standards, and the responsible use of AI-enabled solutions within ER process.
- Advise senior leaders, HR/People partners, and business collaborators on complex and high-risk employee matters. Use data-driven insights and AI-enabled analytics when appropriate. Work closely with Legal to develop risk-based recommendations and defensible solutions.
- Lead and be responsible for critical workplace investigations involving misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, performance concerns, and other employee issues, applying approved AI tools to improve investigation quality, documentation, trend analysis, efficiency, and consistency while ensuring fair, impartial, and timely outcomes.
- Develop and handle India’s industrial relations framework. This includes union matters, labor disputes, workforce consultations, government interactions, and employee representative concerns. Also, assess and address the workforce and labor-relations effects of new technologies and AI adoption.
- Ensure compliance with Indian employment and labor laws, company policies, the Code of Conduct, RBA standards, AI Governance requirements, and regulatory obligations while driving continuous process improvement, responsible AI practices, and appropriate human oversight.
- Build organizational capability through AI application, coaching, leader training, ER programs, and proactive initiatives that develop a respectful, inclusive, psychologically safe, and retaliation-free workplace culture while promoting AI literacy and responsible AI use across the organization.
- Analyze ER, compliance, and labor-relations trends to identify risks, drive proactive interventions and prevention strategies, inform executive decision-making, improve workforce outcomes, and lead strategic ER projects across India through the use of advanced analytics, AI-enabled insights, and data storytelling.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Law, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- 13+ years of dynamic experience in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, workplace investigations, employment law, or related fields, including advising senior leaders and handling complex employee matters.
- Proven leadership experience leading ER/IR teams, programs, or country-level initiatives within a complex organization.
- Strong expertise in Indian labor and employment laws, workplace investigations, industrial relations, organizational change, and risk management.
- Experience in AI application, multinational, manufacturing, semiconductor, technology, or similarly complex environments preferred.
- Fluent English and Hindi required.
- Additional regional language capability, particularly Telugu, Gujarati, or other major Indian languages, is preferred.
