About the role
The Network Team operates Google's metro and data center network, owning the full life cycle of space, power, and network assets from site acquisition and construction through installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning. Google's network delivers services to millions of Internet users worldwide, and the team is accountable for operating it reliably and at scale. As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks, monitor and repair network issues, and maintain network designs and documentation while working with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers, and external vendors and contractors.

- Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale.
- Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide.
- Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low.
- Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues.
- Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in network operations, supporting and troubleshooting enterprise or service provider networks.
- Eperience in Routing protocols, Network troubleshooting and Multiprotocol Label Switching.
- Experience utilizing standard tools and processes to support multi-vendor networks, including network switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
- Experience serving in an on-call capacity, acting as a responder for network infrastructure incidents.
- Foundational understanding of core networking protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VPNs).
