About the role
NetApp's Research and Development function develops enterprise-class data storage and data infrastructure products, including cloud-integrated storage across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. This role leads a blended team of software developers and QA engineers through design, implementation, and support of projects addressing customers' big data challenges, while managing team growth and development. The team works with GoLang, C#, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, hypervisors, and CI/CD in an enterprise product environment.
What you will do
- As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a blended team of Software Developers and QA Engineers.
- You will lead teams through the design, implementation, and support of projects to solve our customers’ big data challenges working with Product Managers, Program Managers, Technical Architects, and Support Organisations.
- Throughout this process, you will also manage the growth and development of team members.

What the employer is looking for
- Very good knowledge in programming languages (GoLang, C# and Python)
- A track record of developing enterprise products in a product-based organization and knowledge of data storage is a must
- Good working and development experience on Kubernetes, docker containers, and protocols (file/block), strong knowledge on hypervisors like VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V. Open source software development knowledge like OpenStack/OpenShift is a bonus.
- Should have a practical and experienced track record of people management, project execution skills, and crisis management.
- Should have strong technical skills and willingness to be a hands-on manager.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools will be a plus.
- Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance productivity in automation, documentation.
- Ability to make decisions consistently and prioritize competing priorities.
- Lead a team of strong engineers who are involved in end-to-end product development and support these products in customer deployments.
- Experience in managing the products deployed with enterprise customers and supporting the products for quality and timely delivery of incremental features.
- Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineers focusing on rewards, recognition, and growth.
- Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computer Science with minimum of 12 years of overall experience with at least 3+ years as a first-line manager, driving engineering teams (DEV & QA) to deliver enterprise-grade products.
