About the role
New Relic builds an intelligent observability platform that gives companies real-time insight into their complex, distributed systems so software engineering teams can identify and resolve issues and maximize performance. The Developer Platform organization develops and maintains the internal developer platform, security, compliance and audit reporting, and the processes and controls that let New Relic engineers release products to customers. This Software Engineering Manager role in India leads a team that treats the internal developer platform as a product, driving roadmaps, golden paths, CI/CD and operational excellence while coaching and growing engineering talent.
What you will do
- Treat the internal developer platform as a product. Define roadmaps, manage backlogs, and prioritize features based on internal engineer needs and business objectives.
- Drive and contribute to our culture of operational and business efficiency: secure code, CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, regression testing, uptime, using smart telemetry data to make decisions, investment in technical and infrastructure debt, and blameless root-cause analysis with a learner and growth mindset.
- Design and promote "golden paths" that standardize development, deployment, and testing, reducing friction by fostering self-service environments.
- Attend operational review meetings and bring postmortem learnings back to the team and organization.
- Learn from some of the brightest minds in the business—who are also looking to learn from you—while coaching and mentoring people.
- Drive the recruitment, training, and development of top-tier talent in the region.
- Regularly collaborate with PMs, technical leaders, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and execute cross-team initiatives.
- Work in an agile environment with a DevOps approach, where teams build and maintain their own software, including participating in second-layer support rotations.
