About the role
Mahindra Group's automotive engineering function is responsible for sheet metal forming simulation across BIW, closures, chassis, and structural components. The role focuses on manufacturability, quality, robustness, and cost optimization during vehicle development using tools such as Autoform and sheet metal forming simulation software. The manager will establish simulation-led product development practices, support concurrent engineering, and work with product design, tooling, manufacturing engineering, and vendors.
What you will do
- Lead all sheet metal forming simulation activities for BIW, closures, chassis, and structural components to ensure manufacturability, quality, robustness, and cost optimization during vehicle development.
- Responsible for establishing simulation-led product development practices and supporting concurrent engineering activities.
- Ensure First time right Design from Manufacturing point of view with complete ownership.
- Lead sheet metal forming simulation activities across all vehicle programs.
- Develop simulation methodologies for stamping feasibility and process validation
- Perform forming analysis for panels, reinforcements, structural members, and closures.
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and design guidelines.
- Support early concept assessments to improve manufacturability.
- Work closely with Product Design, Tooling, Manufacturing Engineering, and Vendors.
- Participate in Design Reviews and Gate Reviews.
- Support tooling tryout and production issue resolution.
- Drive lessons learned deployment across programs.
- Establish simulation capability roadmap.
- Drive process automation and digital engineering initiatives.
Skills used in this role
