About the role

Schneider Electric's team develops solar-powered livelihood and productive-use solutions for agricultural and food-processing applications, spanning the solar array, power electronics, motor/drive, controls and energy storage. The group drives these solutions from use-case selection and requirements definition through engineering, prototyping, field trials, validation, documentation and market deployment, working with OEMs, test labs, installers, financing institutions and country teams in Asia and Africa. This role leads the portfolio roadmap, test and validation standards, partner and stakeholder management, market readiness and overall project governance for multiple solution workstreams.

What you will do

  • Own the project roadmap from use-case selection and requirements of definition through engineering, prototyping, field trials, validation, documentation and release.
  • Lead the development of standardized solution packages for applications such as rice hullers, oil expellers, flour mills, sugarcane crushers and other agricultural or food-processing machines.
  • Define system requirements covering the solar array, power electronics, motor/drive, machine load, protection, controls, energy storage where applicable, installation conditions and expected duty cycle.
  • Coordinate design reviews and ensure that technical decisions, assumptions, risks and changes are documented and traceable.
  • Maintain a prioritized pipeline based on customer need, technical feasibility, livelihood impact, affordability, replicability and market potential.
  • Establish test and validation plans with clear acceptance criteria for safety, functionality, energy performance, reliability, environmental conditions and application-specific output.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing, OEM testing and controlled field pilots; analyse results, lead corrective actions and approve readiness for deployment.
  • Create and maintain standard technical documentation, including architecture, bill of materials, sizing tools, installation instructions, commissioning checklists, operating guidance, maintenance requirements and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Ensure applicable regulatory, electrical-safety, machinery-safety, quality and country-specific requirements are identified and addressed with relevant internal experts and external test partners.
  • Build a structured lessons-learned process so field feedback is translated into design improvements and updated standards.
  • Lead collaboration with machine OEMs, solar and electrical partners, test laboratories, installers, channel partners and field organizations.
  • Align cross-functional internal stakeholders across engineering, offer management, quality, supply chain, commercial, sustainability and country teams.
  • Define partner work packages, deliverables, technical interfaces, governance, review cadence and escalation routes.
  • Communicate complex technical and commercial topics clearly to senior leaders, partners and field teams across cultures and geographies.
  • Work with commercial and country teams to define target customer segments, value propositions, route-to-market, pricing logic, partner enablement and launch plans.
  • Collaborate with financing institutions and ecosystem partners to develop practical financing models for end users and entrepreneurs, including suitable repayment and risk-sharing approaches.
  • Plan pilots and early deployments, including partner selection, site readiness, training, commissioning, service support, data capture and user feedback.
  • Prepare and manage the project plan, budget, resources, milestones, dependencies, risk register and decision log.
  • Establish measurable indicators for technical performance, cost, quality, pilot outcomes, market readiness, partner capability and livelihood impact.
  • Provide concise, evidence-based progress reports and recommendations to governance stakeholders; escalate critical risks early and drive closure.
  • Manage multiple solution workstreams while maintaining rigorous scope, schedule, quality and change control.

What the employer is looking for

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical, electronics, power, renewable energy, mechanical or related engineering.
  • An MBA or postgraduate qualification in rural management, product management or project management is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including substantial responsibility for new-product development, system engineering, industrialization, technical project delivery or deployment of energy solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional projects from concept through validation and launch or deployment.
  • Working knowledge of solar PV systems, motors and drives, electrical distribution and protection, or productive-use equipment.
  • Experience working with OEMs, suppliers, test partners and geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong project controls, risk management, structured problem solving, documentation and stakeholder-management capability.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel to partner, test and deployment locations in Asia and Africa.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with off-grid or weak-grid solar applications, rural productive use of energy, agricultural machinery or distributed-energy solutions.
  • Experience designing test plans, conducting field validation, leading root-cause analysis and managing product-quality improvements.
  • Exposure to certification, conformity assessment and applicable electrical or machinery standards in emerging markets.
  • Experience developing business models, customer finance, pay-as-you-go, leasing or asset-finance solutions for productive assets.
  • Formal project-management or agile certification, such as PMP, PRINCE2 or Scrum, is desirable.

Benefits and support

  • Compensation and benefits are detailed in the job posting
